A banner website in Chinese helps Banner Pharmaceutical Stay Ahead

Banner Executive Summary
For a leading pharmaceutical company with facilities in five different countries, Banner Pharmacaps understands what it means to be global. With production facilities in 4 different continents, Banner must manage not only different methods and standards for production, they must also manage their operations in a number of different languages.

As the primary communications medium for business today, the Web presents its own opportunities and challenges for connecting with global customers and suppliers. With a growing need to communicate in Mandarin Chinese, Banner Pharmacaps knew it had to produce a Chinese language version of its website.

Business Challenges
Insource or Outsource the Chinese website translation?
Banner faced a number of business challenges that any global company understands. How would it achieve a quality Chinese website translation if it didn’t have the internal resources or previous experience in managing such a task? From the beginning, Banner understood that outsourcing this unknown task would be more cost efficient over time than attempting to manage it in-house.

An Accurate Technical Translation
As a specialized pharmaceutical company, Banner required a translation vendor who could accurately translate the highly technical and highly specialized content contained within its website. At the same time, Banner’s website represented a valuable marketing medium, so the Chinese translation had to be well written stylistically and appealing to website visitors. The balance between technical accuracy and polished prose was a key goal for the company.

Translation & Localization of Web Software Code
While translation of website content into Chinese presented the first key challenge for Banner, a more complicated challenge involved managing the web software code deep within the corporate website. As a functional website with dynamic features, the Banner website translation would be a task reserved for a seasoned translation company. Working with programming languages such as Cold Fusion and others would require a website translation vendor who had genuine technical capabilities and experience in managing complex corporate website translations. New-Global was the choice.

New-Global Wins the Competitive Bid
To ensure that its requirements would be met by a truly experienced and dependable translation vendor, Banner held a competitive bidding process with a large number of industry players. After a lengthy due diligence and thorough analysis of vendor quality, technical capabilities, and overall vendor proposal, New-Global was selected along with a partner marketing company to manage the large scale website translation.

New-Global Delivers a Banner Website in Chinese
As the primary manager of the Banner website translation into Chinese, New-Global coordinated the complex website translation among a number of parties, including internal departments at Banner, a partner marketing and communications company, and New-Global’s own professional translation resources.

New-Global provided skilled multidimensional project management (MPM), including an ability to manage a large number of technical resources, marketing personnel, translation capabilities, a software localization team, and a multistep approach to the translation workflow management — all across a distributed environment with offices in different cities, indeed in different countries. Given the short time frame requirements, the deadline was extremely tight.

New-Global was able to successfully achieve this remarkable task through the use of a proprietary workflow automation system it developed specifically for such project management. In addition, New-Global’s professional resources involved a team of dedicated project managers who saw no obstacles and remained focused only on the client’s goal. The result was a banner website in Chinese and a clear path toward expansion for this global pharmaceutical company.
